Our Strengths

Our results:

Results at both GCSE and A level have been consistently high over the last few years, with the vast majority of students at A Level obtaining grades A to C.

 

A high percentage of A Level students choose to read History at university, including Oxford and Cambridge. Students leaving BMS last year to study History took up places at universities including York, Durham, Warwick and London.

Our teaching:

The Department boasts a wide variety of specialisms, providing a breadth and depth of teaching. Among them are a number of experienced external examiners bringing valuable insight and knowledge to the students.

Our facilities:

History is taught in a number of dedicated rooms, providing a pleasant teaching environment. Each student is provided with their own text books and have the benefit of access to ICT facilities.

Our extra curricular activities:

The History department offers a wide varity of extra curricular activities. From a Medieval Day in Year 7, a visit to the Battlefields of World War I in Year 9 to conferences in London to hear the latest opinions of top historians in the Sixth Form. The Humanities Society provides a forum for students to hear a number of excellent speakers on their 'home patch' here at BMS.
